THE OLIVE GAZELLE is a showcase platform, built up of talented figures I have interviewed and admire. The creative expression of others has always fascinated me, along with how their passions have developed to produce, or be a part of such inspiring work. Talent of any speciality should never go unnoticed, which is why I’ve chosen to fixate my writing on celebrating these individuals.
“Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up, it knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning, a lion wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn’t matter whether you’re the lion or a gazelle – when the sun comes up, you’d better be running.”
The quote above, by playwright Abe Gubegna in 1974, has fuelled THE OLIVE GAZELLE from day one. We have to acknowledge that although the gazelle is the underdog against the powerful lion, just as most creatives are to industry professionals – involvement is everything. As long as we continue to pursue our interests and exhibit our adorations, we will strengthen our chances in joining those in the industry. In short, competition is inevitable, but if the participator is fully engaged in the hunt then there is guaranteed satisfaction – no matter how big or small.
